With A1, to Oblad

A1 promise to do their best in Melodi Grand Prix

A1 promise there will be energy when they are fighting for a place in the Melodi Grand Prix final in Skien this Saturday. When ØB meet boyband a1 in Oslo before they head off to Skien, the mood is great. The chemistry is back after a break for a few years. A1 begun the millennium with the hit “Take on me” and later they released the plague “Caught In The Middle”. Now they are participating in Melodi Grand Prix.

“The song is very upbeat and full of energy. It is a poprock song, and that is where we are at the moment” Mark Read reveals. The boys are in the middle of producing a new album after their comeback on “Allsang på Grensen” last summer.
“It was a typical ‘one thing led to another’ reunion. Now we are happy to be together again. The new album is a step further away from “Caught In The Middle” Ben Adams tells us.
There’s a lot on their schedule this year like concert in Norway and the rest of the world, but first they are doing the Melodi Grand Prix.

“We don’t know a lot about this competition in this semifinal. We have heard a bit, but mostly concentrated on ourselves. We are going to give the best performance we can” Mark promise. The two british men know well enough about the competition, and that Norway won last year with Alexander Rybaks “Fairytale”.

“Eurovision is something everybody likes watching, also in England. It would be extra interesting here this year since you won last year and it is a big opportunity for us” says Ben. As mentioned A1 topped many charts ten years ago. Are they going to start this decade on top of the Eurovision chart?

“Hehe yeah, good point. Of course we hope so. Hopefully this is a good decade for us too, and we are hoping Melodi Grand Prix will be a good start to the “new” A1. But we don’t think that much about the competition. We are just going to perform a good song, and we’ll see how it goes” A1 tells us. A1 is the last ones to perform in the semifinal in Skien.
At A1s reunion last year it was like time had stood still. Paul Marazzi wasn’t there, but the three others do their job with friendship.
“It isn’t like taking on some old shoes. We are wearing “new shoes”. Actually we feel we’ve started a whole new shoe shop”, the boys are talking in metaphor while they’re laughing.
