With A1, to Side2

Our song means something now, we used to be more marketing machines.

Tonight they are performing their song “Don’t Wanna Lose You Again” which they have written themselves.

Mark Read (31), Ben Adams (28) and Christian Ingebrigtsen (32) last year announced that they were going to do a comeback. It has been seven years since the band split in 2002.
- It is incredible to be back. During these years we’ve got loads life experience and learned a lot about relationships which we now are writing about in songs. We’ve all had relationships, and had both ups and downs, Mark tells Side2.

The boys think all the life experience gives the songs a whole new meaning.
- When we were on top in the 90s, our songs was to satisfy our fans. We were marketing hits machine. Now we write our songs with a message that comes from within our hearts and that are build of many years’ life experiences. It gives a whole new dimension to the songs, says Ben.
The band tells us that the song they are participating in Melodi Grand Prix with is about understanding how important and serious love is.
- It tells a story about a guy who didn’t take love seriously and then he lost it, but this time he’ll sharpen himself and do an effort to keep the relationship, Ben explain.

During their stay in Skien the boys have already had time to entertain both themselves and others.
- On Thursday we were at a pub with the others including Mira Craig. She’s amazing. I’m sure she has a crush on me, says Ben. This probably isn’t true as she has already found her prince.
To get A1 to participate in the Melodi Grand Prix took a bit of persuasion.
- In the UK people don’t take the competition that seriously and UK has sent some weird acts to represent UK in the Eurovison Song Contest. Last year the level got higher when Andrew Lloyd Webber participated. Here in Norway the effect was probably biggest because Alexander Rybak won the Eurovision final. Now it is cool to participate in Melodi Grand Prix, tells Mark.

Compared to the other artists, A1 too are promising a furious stage show.
- We had stage rehearsals on Friday and they went very well. It will be a high energy stage show that we think people are going to like, Christian says.
