"Ben’s return and his upcoming music" - POPJUSTICE (April 2005) (extracts)

BEN OUT OF A1 IS BACK! ...As a whole the tracks sound as if Ben has been sandwiched between 'Cry Me A River'-era Justin Timberlake, Daniel Bedingfield, Tyler James and Har Mar Superstar - an image that is by turns horrifying and mildly arousing.

The single is called 'Sorry'. It's about having done something really, really bad. How bad? According to Ben: "It's like a Biblical curse, imagine hurt on a scale unheard - well the truth is worse." Crikey!

'I Don't Wanna Stay' is a ballad of 'If You're Not the One'-esque proportions, featuring the killer line "I'm not gonna die if you don't love me, it's just I wouldn't call it living". Amazing!

Actually the lyrics are pretty good across the board. They feature Ben pretending to be, as they say in pubs, 'some sort of hard man' ("I'll give you twenty seconds to explain, before I throw you through the window pane" - ooh, manly). They also feature comedy alusions to smoking skunk, doing lines in toilets, and giving head! Which begins to make sense when you realise that...

...'Get Off My Girl' was in fact written with Har Mar Superstar. (And is brilliant.)

We went round Ben's house a few months ago and he made us a cup of tea IN AN A1 MUG! He said it was "for old time's sake" but we bet he uses them all the time. We bet they're his best china.

He also gave us a Ferrero Rocher.

And that, as they say, is that.
